PRIVACY
WHAT YOU TELL US IS PRIVILEGED
Communications between you and Audit Veritas for the purpose of obtaining legal services are protected by the attorney-client privilege. We treat them that way from your first message, whether or not a representation agreement has been signed. We will not disclose what you tell us — or who you are — to anyone, except where you direct us to. Records requests we file go out under our name: Audit Veritas is the requester of record. Where a search requires your name or date of birth to locate a file, the agency receives it only as the subject of the search — who is asking, and why, stays with us, under privilege. We do not sell, share, or voluntarily produce the identities of the people who come to us, and we know of no lawful basis on which anyone could compel them. If anyone ever tries, we will fight it — at every level, in every court. Protecting the people who ask is the practice.
WHAT WE COLLECT
When you submit a request, we collect what you enter on the form: your name, a way to reach you, the agencies and locations at issue, the dates, and your description of the records you are seeking. All of it arrives under the privilege described above.
We collect nothing else. We do not use tracking pixels, advertising networks, or analytics that build a profile of you. We do not fingerprint your device.
WHY WE NEED YOUR NAME
A request for records about a specific person has to name that person. There is no way around it: your name and date of birth are how agencies index their files; a search without them comes back empty. Your name appears in the request as the subject of the search. The requester is Audit Veritas - every request goes out under our name.
WHAT WE DO WITH WHAT YOU SEND US
We use it to draft and file your requests, to correspond with agencies about them, and to send you what comes back. Nothing else. We do not sell it, share it, or publish it.
WHAT COMES BACK
Records an agency produces in response to your request are sent to you. We keep a copy in the matter file.
HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
We keep matter files for the period required by the professional responsibility rules of the jurisdictions where we practice, and then we destroy them.
If you want your file returned or deleted earlierwill do it, subject to any obligation we have to retain records of legal work performed.
SECURITY
We limit who has access to what you send us. We do not store what we do not need. We do not transmit your information to third parties.
