Seven clinics closed. The cameras did not. The County cut $220 million and seven clinics, while the Board handed the Sheriff a $243.9 million cushion, and he still ran $98.2 million over budget. On Nov. 3, Measure A would give arbitrators the last word on deputy pay. The JRIC Fusion Center, 931 plate readers and a $235 million Axon contract aren’t on the ballot, and neither sheriff candidate will discuss them.

LAPD’s own inspector general said pause new plate readers. Ten weeks later, its commission approved more.
Government agencies keep records about people. License plate readers log where your car has been. Cameras record you in public and private spaces. Agencies write reports, send referrals to one another, and open files.
The law gives you the right to see what they have written about you. Almost nobody uses it, because using it requires knowing which agency to ask, how to describe the records so the request cannot be dismissed, what deadline applies, and what to do when the deadline passes.
We do that for you. There is no charge.
Tell us who you believe has been watching you, what they recorded, and what they wrote down. We will make them answer for it.
